The following reviews are those that I come across on
the web, in guide books, from contributors and of course from my own
visits. Reviewers may be unreasonably harsh and bar owners may present a
rosy picture of their bars...so don't take everything at face value...go
and see for yourself.

Maybe the Wonderful bars and the Bodega opposite may

New German themed bar with live band opened April 2008. So far a hit

News July 2010: Closed
Reported as closed in July 2010.
Review from Pattaya Secrets,
April 2008: Cold & Russian
On entering two things immediately hit me. Firstly aircon, it's
colder than the Big C cinema! Secondly Russians!
The place has been really nicely done , with a mixture of tables and
chairs, and stools at bars, around a centre stage area.
Only two choices of beer, Erdinger on draft and bottles, and Heineken
on draft only, and prices were pretty reasonable.
On the stage, a 5 piece band were playing, they were all Russians,
playing Russian songs. The band actually came across as very
competent.
I did speak to one of the Thai waitresses, and she confirmed that the
bar has been set up by Russians for Russians.
So why make it look German?

Billion Beer bar

Billion Beer bar
Short time bar
News Dec 2006: Going Up
Now 600 Baht all in
Review by Swanks, Sept 2006: Best
Bargain in Patts
Sometimes a bar "Comes into its own" Almost by accident really!
Billion suddenly has been transformed from a 'no hoper' into a very nice
and welcoming watering hole! I do suspect it is more by accident than
design, but it really has a lot going for it now!
Drinks are not 'rock bottom' but ok! Lady drinks not anywhere near
Walking street prices!
But the policy of just charging 500 baht at the bar for girl and room
must make them one of the best bargains in Patts! Tip the girl if you
want to but it doesn't seem to be expected and the girls are just as good as anything I have seen on Soi 6!
The whole place has a nice 'Pub' atmosphere and you can enjoy a relaxing
drink at the bar and chat to the 'Chinese' owner and mamasan, and stroke
her small dog which often sleeps on the counter! The mutt has an uncanny
facial resemblance to her but don't tell her I said so!
If it gets on your nerves, sort of, give it a bit of a shove! Just tell
mamasan it fell! Lands on all 4 paws like a cat!
I'm going to get the little sod pissed next week! It's sort of taken
to me now so it should be a laugh!
Enjoy!

Classroom A-GoGo
It calls itself a gogo but the dress code is coyote, with skirts, knickers,
tops and bras. Beware of expensive draft beer 100 Baht
Review August 2010:
Over
Classroom A-GoGo has long been banished from the Thai-Anxiety GoGo
listings for wearing way too many clothes. And the girls are still over
dressed with the usual Britney Spears attire complete with skirt,
knickers, blouse and bra.
There were maybe 15 girls in the bar of which 7 were dancing an over
long roster. They were below average but there were a couple of dancers
that were attractive enough. On average, a little over aged and over
weight. I wonder if letting the girls wear so many clothes may rather
attract the girls who need to cover up.
The girls seem friendly and willing to come across for a chat.
The draft beer is well over priced at 100 Baht.
Surely as a GoGo the bar offers poor value. But the bar seems to have
an alternative role as a hangout bar along the lines of TQ1. There
seemed to be quite a few customers having a chat on the high level part
of the bar. They were generally chatting amongst themselves and ignoring
the dancing.
Review from Malcolm May 2010:
Overdressed
Can't say much more than has already been said. Overdressed girls
Draught beer B65, ladydrink B125
Review June 2008: Gone Coyote
The bar calls itself a gogo but the Thai-Anxiety definition of a gogo
is that there should be dancing girls wearing bikinis or preferably
less. This bar no longer qualifies as all the girls wear skirts,
knickers, tops and bras. The style is Britney Spears school wear which
my provide some recompense for the lack of showing.
The dancers were a little below average. There were about 20 girls in
the bar of which 4 or 5 were dancing on stage.
The beer price was way above average at 100 Baht for a glass surely
smaller than a bottled beer. Strangely the other drinks prices are not
so expensive with most choices being in the 100-120 Baht range. There is
a happy hour for afternoon drinkers though until 6pm
There were a fair number of customers in the bar so all can't be too
bad. But nobody made much effort to get me to stay very long. I probably
had a scowl on my face from the 100 Baht draft beer.
Review by polleke Oct 2007:
Consistent
The bar seems to be very stable and seems to hang in
The bar still remains the same, although I found an improvement on
the line-up since my last visit. There were plenty of average girls and
a couple of better looking ones.
Not so many customers.
My friends loved the place, especially the schoolgirls outfits. The
girls were very friendly and up for a chat and a bit hands on fun.
Just a well run agogo and one of the longest running ones in Patts.
I myself was remembered by a girl I barfined 7 months ago. Those girls
have long memories.
Review Aug 2007:
Going Strong
The bar seems to be very stable and seems to hang in
there despite not keeping up with the opposition. There are no Jacuzzis,
no table dancing stages, no shows, no nudity and no touchy feely girls.
However the bar maintains a cast of about 25 girls
that shuffle in shirts and skirts. There were 5 girls on stage making
for a 5 song dancing stint for each girl.
There were some attractive girls amongst the dancers
and they would eventually make contact with the customers. Although it
did seem that they preferred to conclude their chat with fellow dancers
first.
Drinks prices are on the high side considering the
lack of entertainment on offer.
The bar is decorated with military emblems and badges
so presumably it comes into its own during the likes of Cobra Gold.
I m not really sure why but I guess the bar will still
be going strong when others fall by the wayside.

Review October 2009: Rum and
Sweet Lime
I first stopped by at about 8:45. There were welcome girls with
placards for a 2 for 1 happy hour. But I stuck my head round the door
and the bar hadn't started up yet. The girls were busy applying their
war paint as NightMarch likes to stay. I always wonder what the point of
opening bars before they are ready is. I guess they may sell a couple of
beers, but if they do, they will just mark up customers who think the
bar is rubbish. Anyway I returned an hour or so later for another
look. The bar is quite nicely presented but rather small. Half the bar
is quite socially arranged around bar counters, and the half dozen or so
customers chose to sit here. The other half of the bar is given over to
a pool table. The stools layout suggests that
the bar is primarily a place for groups of friends to go for a chat.
Probably based on the Club BLU model where chatting to mates is the
primary entertainment, and attractive girls decorating the bar is
secondary. There were 3 or 4 coyote dancers who were attractive
enough. But of course the hostesses targeting the oldies like me,
weren't. I found a pretty girl to chat to in the end, she was either a
service girl or a welcome girl, not really dressed up like the hostesses
and coyotes. Anyway she made a pleasant companion and I enjoyed my visit
to the bar. I didn't note the drinks prices but they were at the high
end of reasonable. But hardly reasonable in terms of competition with
the fun, naked entertainment and available girls of Walking Street. I
rather guess that the rub for this bar is that it is in the shadow of
Walking Street. The competition there is simply too hot (& naked) for
coyote dancing bars to do well. (Apart from Secrets of course, but that
has its own niche market as a meeting place). But hopefully the bar
can attract a few younger and trendier customers than me.

Shuffle Board
The interior renovation retains the huge hospitable bar but with more
comfy seating, fourteen TV screens, two pool tables, a new band stand
which is the scene for live music Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights
from 8.00 pm till midnight. (Lee Shamrock is also scheduled to perform).
The walls are decorated with unique pictures of Celtic women whose
exploits during the Viking invasion became legendary and conferred their
reputation as fearsome warriors and romantic heroines.
Dicey Reilly's The result is a friendly, contemporary entertainment
destination with a laid-back ambiance and Gaelic vibes.
Cat told us that a unique forthcoming attraction will be the arrival
of a 5 metre long shuffle board. For the uninitiated (like us) players
use broom-shaped paddles to push pucks down a narrow court into the
scoring area.
The menu features good, honest pub grub with an Irish twist plus a
small selection of Thai dishes,

Hopf House
Dining, music and German brewhouse without hostesses.
Review from Pattaya Talk
May 2007: Bit Expensive
I fancied a nice bit of grub one night so I treated me and Missus to
a meal in Hopf.
Glad to see it's not a gay bar anymore. Steak was nice and service
excellent. Bit expensive but worth a go and Pizza's and Knuckle ham
looked lovely.
From Steve, Nov 2006: Discriminatory Policies
I’ve been eating in the Hopf Brauhaus on Beach Road for four years.
The place has an interesting pseudo-gothic interior decoration. The food
comes in large portions and is good quality, though hardly gourmet (and
they totally overdo the tomatoes in/on just about everything!). The
staff are efficient and mostly quite friendly.
However, I recently took a friend who has a foot deformity there to eat.
To cut a long story short, he was denied entry because he didn’t have
what they deemed to be ‘proper’ footwear. What did they expect? He can’t
wear normal shoes. Anyway, after discussing this with one of the senior
waiters that I knew (one of the guys wearing a green jacket), he stood
by the doorman’s decision to refuse my friend entry.
I was so damned embarrassed by this. My friend seemed to blame himself
for us being refused entry. He was almost in tears as we went off to
Pizza Hut to eat. What could I do? It was my stupid idea to take him
there as I had always liked the place before this incident. In spite of
the Hopf brauhaus being one of the largest and evidently most prosperous
restaurants in Pattaya, it has no wheelchair access either.
So be warned, avoid the place if you have a physical handicap.
Personally I have decided that I will never eat there again, they made
me feel so small. Up to you if you want to support a restaurant with
these discriminatory policies.
From
Jil in Pattaya,
June 2006: Italian tenor
We met up with Rick and Da at the Hopf Brewery on Walking Street at
11:00 on Saturday night. Why? Because it is only on Saturdays when one
of the owners, Enzo, gets up on stage to sing: Yes, Pattaya's only
Italian tenor cum human beat box. He really is exceptional, and the
place just goes wild when he sings.
The Hopf Brewery still has great beer. Order their home-brewed wheat
beer and at 11:00, enjoy the show.
Summer 2005: No Smoking
Seems popular with the Asian tour parties probably because this is one
of the few bars that don't focus on female companionship.
The live band are competent and play the usual pop/rock material but
they feature a jazzier treatment than most.
The beer is good but a little expensive.
I found the metal detector search on entry a little off putting, it
makes you wonder if they have something to fear from protection
racketeers or thugs. Maybe they working with a thought to further royal
vistors. Smoking is prohibited.

Hottie's
Club

News June 2010: Dark

Review February 2010: Still
Coyote
I had read that Hottie's Club were trying a re-branding as an
A-GoGo but I didn't spot much evidence of this beyond one of the welcome
signs proclaiming Hottie's A-GoGo.
The girls were dressed up in cropped blouses, bras, light skirts and
knickers. In my book this is coyote wear so the bar has been de-listed
from the GoGos section.
The girls were dancing on 2 stages with a couple of girls on each.
They didn't seem very interested in the few customers so I enjoyed my
cheap draft beer and departed pronto.
News from John, April 2009: Up Sized
The bar has now been extended. The bar is more than twice the size of
what it used to be.
Review Nov 2008: Not So Hot
There's a good band and a very cheap 45 Baht draft beer. There's even
a few pretty dancers. However at least at an early hour the bar is
struggling to get any momentum going (ie I was the only customer).
But as is often the case, if a bar is dead then nobody seems to make
any efforts to retain the few customers that give it a try.
Presumably the only girls that put up with a dead bar are those happy
to work for the salary rather than tips + extras. Hence nobody is
bothered about trying to look after any customers that may pop in.

Review from Michael, April 2010: A Bit
of Squeeze
Just went to Miss Dino bar after escaping from the Classroom. Anyway
I was called in by such friendly girls they pulled me in. Things went
downhill from there.
One girl jumped on me she was a tiny thing but o so friendly. Every
time I went to get a drink she just hugged me so tight. I had to
struggle to let her go. She was so nice and friendly you could not ask
for anything more.
Anyway had a great time and cannot wait to go back again. I would
recommend it based on my experience..
Review from Pattaya Addicts,
March 2008: Outward Looking
Well in Pattaya it is easy to start thinking you are god's gift to
women with all the female attention; when that happens go to Miss Dino's
bar to get straightened out. Sit at the bar and you will hardly see a
girls face ever. They will all be ignoring you gazing out into the
street.
On entry one girl shouted at me what you want dink! I didn't
know whether she was asking me or threatening me. Things went down from
then on. I asked a girl: how much bar fine? she did not know and
asked the Mama San - B600 all night. What for a bar. That is go go
bar price. She got up and sat somewhere else.
There are some good looking girls in there but they seem to be all
new, and none have any idea on how to be a hostess. They all sit looking
out into the street and you cannot get a decent look at them.

I have been staying regularly at Office Girls over the last year when

The new Mamasan/Owner is Noi, and she gets most of her girls direct
from the villages by word of mouth.
They are a good mix of husband-hunters and ST specialists, very
friendly and sexy too. Room rates are good at 400Bt.

Hassle Free?
Palmer's is reasonably hassle free, at least from the ladies, but it is
a sign of the economic times that the watch vendors et al, are getting
pretty consistent in their sales pitches, and they do not appear to be
discouraged by the simple 'miaow khrap' anymore, more
difficult to shake off than a bogey stuck to your middle finger!

From

Secrets, Oct 2005:
Cutey
Most of the girls in front were rather old and not that good looking.
I really didn't expect much as I walked in and they all cheered and the
girls in the bars on either side let out a little cry. I sat down and a
surprisingly cute little thing kneeled down in front of me and gave me
the usual what would you like to drink.
3 Tigers later I found my nerve to head upstairs still not sure what
to expect in the upstairs bar. Walking into the little upstairs bar no
one was in there but us, which relieved me. I sat on a bar stool, which
as she got into it was a mistake because the seat top wasn't bolted to
the legs and it slid around a lot. I waived her to stop and to head over
to the chairs, right at that moment standing there with my hard on
another girl walked in to sit behind the counter, I stood there for a
moment confused and the little cutey that I never got her name just
pulled me to a seat where she recommenced her incredibly poor blow job.
At that moment 3 more girls and 3 really, I mean really old guys
walked in with them and they just dropped trousers without a care. The
wrinkly old man sack actually killed my viagra fueled hard on instantly.
Knowing there was no way in Hell I was going to blow after that sight. I
pulled my pants up. I ran to the counter, paid and got out of there as
fast as I could.
October 2005:
350 Baht for BBBJCIM in upstairs bar. 600 Baht for
half hour BJ in private room
2004 from
www.PattayaLovers.com:
Warning
An
interesting (actually scary) situation occurred during my last trip. Like
everyone else, I have my our daily routine, which included foot massage,
dick massage (Soi BJ) etc...among other things. So one day I entered pump
station and befriended a US airforce pilot on his 3-day break. He was new
to the scene and we chatted for a while and ended up choosing a girl each
and walked upstairs.
We got seated pants down and were
being cleaned when I got this sudden doubt about this 'girl's gender. I
wondered out this out loud to him...Before I warned him he has to be
careful how he handles the retreat given that we are locked inside a small
dark upstairs room (in my case had my passport with me since I had just
cashed my TC, he demanded (although politely) that his lady prove her
gender. She proceeded to pull his hand towards her fully covered
chest...but both of us were unconvinced. The obvious next demand followed
at which point, the Katoey got up, got hold on the solid ash-tray and
hurled it towards me. Yes me! My girl had just begun her act down below
and this flying ash-tray in my direction shrunk my dick in a fraction of a
second ;-) I ducked, got up and walked backwards (still with my pants
down)...At this point my shocked new-friend held tried to restrain the
katoey who was charging angrily towards me with little success. Mind you
we were the only two guys in this upstairs dark room.
Long story cut short...I managed to
shield myself with this pilot friend, the katoey still trying to 'kill'
me. I believe that at the moment since she was unwilling to reason,
negotiate (we both offered her several hundred dollars, even thousands but
to no avail)...Somehow we managed to get downstairs still walking
backwards until we got to the main bar. At which point I got a little bold
and we tried to complain to the mamasan. She did nothing.

Pussy Galore Sports Bar

Pussy Galore Sports Bar
Beer bar with aircon.
Food available from own kitchen.
Review June 2006: Grandma Bar
Showing some enthusiasm after the recent rework
the bar have laid on half a dozen welcome staff. The pretty girls will
show you up the steps but that's as far as they go.
Once inside you will see plenty of small
tables, a pool table and a bar. There were about 15 girls dotted around
but I headed for the bar. I was only the second farang in the joint at
about 8pm
As soon as I located a stool, up popped a
granny who was older than my own. I tried to shake her off with such
subtle comments as "I don't want to talk you" but it made no impression.
She hung in there grimly whilst I downed my beer, and as fast as my legs
could take me I was out of there.
For fans of cold beer, the bar excels, mine was
frozen solid. They soon popped it in the microwave (or swapped it for
another) so no problems there. A bottled Tiger was 75 Baht.
Probably just bad luck but I do find it ego
sapping to be fobbed off with the oldies. It's as if all 15 girls looked
me over and decided that my ugliness was best matched by the wooden
spoon. I go to Pattaya to live the dream life, not to be reminded of
being old and ugly.
News, June 2006: Rooms Galore
The redevelopment has been completed. It is said
to look very good inside. The bar now has rooms available and there are
a lot of new girls.
Review November 2005: Bores Galore
Amazingly the bar employs several meeters and
greeters. They must spend their time saying hello and then goodbye just
a few minutes later.
The bar exudes boredom. There is pool table and
a few TVs. There are a few girls lounging around but they couldn't be
bothered to get up off their arses to say hello.
A bottle beer was 75 Baht. Money well wasted.

Pattaya Secrets,
Feb 2008: Pricey Drinks
Nice Bar But there prices are to high for a pub had a few drinks
yesterday in This new Shenanigans in Pattaya there Vodka for a shot
was 160 Baht without a mixer and red wine was 180 Baht a glass.
It's way over the top. The wine, by the bottle, is also expensive
and not very good. The food is pricey for very basic pub grub. Shame
they moved as the old venue had considerably more character than this
modern mausoleum.
Review from
Jil in Pattaya,
Nov 2007: Pretty Place
The new space is really quite nice, with tons of wood finish, a
tiled floor, and very high quality furnishings. Although any
connection to Ireland and the atmosphere of an Irish pub is completely
gone, it is a pretty place. There is also outdoor seating, located out
in front of the restaurant.
The interior of Shenanigans is very nice but not particularly Irish. I
really didn't even look at the menu, except to get an idea of the
prices: It seemed that the majority of dishes were in the 300-350 baht
range... a bit pricey, but for an upscale non-fancy place like this,
it's about average.
Instead, I went for the Friday-night special: All you can eat bar-be-que
ribs for 295 baht... which is really a pretty good deal. The ribs were
great... I also had a pint of Kilkenny for 220 baht.
The total bill for 5 people came to 2700 baht, which is about average
for Pattaya upscale tourist-focused locations like this. I really
wouldn't recommend Shenanigans over a more homely place like the Pig &
Whistle on Soi 7, or The Queen Vic on Soi 6... but it's a nice enough
place to take out-of-towners for dinner before starting a night out in
Pattaya.
Review Summer 2005: Up Market
It does some excellent
traditional meals although these are on the pricy side for Pattaya.
Sunday lunch accompanied by sport on TV seems well popular.
Perhaps a
little bit of an up market crowd though. The bar always seems to feature

Review 1st August 2010: Nice Outline
There were four girls waiting outside the door of which a couple were
nice and the others a bit old. So I made the usual signs and wandered
in, only to notice that my choice was overruled and an oldie followed me
in. Normally I would do a quick U turn but as I wanted to see the bar I
let it ride.
Inside is a nice newly decorated bar with comfortable seats and good
aircon. The seating area looks badly laid out though, with the large
majority of seats in a communal area looking as if it has been designed
for large parties of friends with all the seats overlooking the others.
Surely the bar would be better designed with bays and mini barriers that
give cues of privacy. There is one seating bay however, and the 2nd
customer to enter was quick to bagsy that area.
The entertainment options are pretty slim in the bar with a single
picture of a lady repeated many times around the room and TVs showing
the FTV fashion channel.
Prices were distinctly poor value at 100 Baht for a bottled beer and
130 Baht for a lady drink. There are menus on the table but somehow
these neglected to include the prices.
The bar is attractive enough that it may find a niche as a smart set
drinking bar, but I rather suspect that the expats won't put up with
expensive drinks and the silly tricks with the eye candy being pinned to
the door.

Wonderful Bar 1
Review from Lindsay, Sept 2008:
Recommended
I Spent many early evenings and some afternoons in Wonderful Bar 1 on
the corner of Second Rd and Soi 13/1 during my August 2008 stay drinking
bottles of singha beer for 40 baht.
The staff are very friendly and the bar girls arrive at 5.00pm about
25 altogether. Although some are average they are great company.
Two bands play every night starting at 6.00pm changing half way
during the evening and both play good music and sound great.
This is a very popular bar mostly busy unlike a lot of Pattaya bars.
They obviously have a fair swag of local expats drink there regularly
and most bars I am sure would envy the business this bar generates.
Recommended and lady drinks are also reasonable at 95 baht and they
don’t accept the drink and then bugger off.
Review from Pattaya Secrets,
July 2007: Comfortable Start
Very relaxing early evening atmosphere with 45Baht
Heinekens. The Music is mellow and numerous Fans keep it very
comfortable. The girls leave you alone unless you are looking. If you
want a low key comfortable start to the evening this is the perfect
place.
September 05: Place to Chill
If you want a place to chill , beer 45
baht 5-7pm then 50 baht all night try Wonderful 1. Always a lot of
Brits in there...always my starting point anyways.
There is band that
generally start at 9pm. Many of the 30 or so girls are acceptable.

Well worth while dropping by in the happy hour ( ie any datime hour

There is always fun to be had with the the easiest of opening gambits
being a challenge to a game of Connect 4. For 40 Baht a daytime drink
you can't go too far wrong
October 2005:
The centrepiece is a large bar, in which a dozen or so girls are
usually hanging around waiting for a game of Connect 4. The best seats
hug the bar, but there are also sofas and outside seating. Service here
is fast and friendly, with the girls keen to chat without being pushy.
It's a big bar, so there's never a feeling of being crowded. TV screens
hang in each corner. With black walls and bright red and yellow
lighting, it has a club-cum-warehouse feel.
To the back of the bar is a pool table and more seating.
July 2005:
A great place to have a few 'happy hour' beers
in the afternoon and a good last stop place at night before calling it a
night. As an extra bonus, several good looking girls available for take
out.

Review from Tony, Feb 2008: A
Good Local
A really good local beer bar and an ideal place to meet up to start
your day or night off. Run by three solid Yorkshire lads who know all
the ropes of Pattaya and are more than willing to pass their advice on.
If golf's your thing then its even better. They organise golf days
and even lay on the mini bus service at a far cheaper rate than going
through an agent.
The pub is in a darts league and local matches abound. The rooms
upstairs are clean and spacious with satellite TV etc and are ideal if
your on a lads holiday.
Bar staff are nice and friendly but more importantly, honest. You can
also sort your airport taxi out from the bar. Just ask for Neil, Mick or
Eddie.

Notes |
|
Pattaya bars most likely to be listed are those that
occupy a permanent looking standalone building. Beer bars in
complexes will not be listed
unless mentioned in dispatches. Gay/Thai/Karaoke bars are not listed due
to a lack of expertise in those areas. Gogo bars are listed on a
separate page. I have added food reviews but
this is not a comprehensive service. I will only list eateries where
people have submitted comments
The following reviews are those that I come across on
the web, in guide books, from contributors and of course from my own
visits. Reviewers may be unreasonably harsh and bar owners
may present a rosy picture of their bars...so don't take everything at
face value...go and see for yourself. Click on the street name to obtain
a map of the bar area.
And a couple of words of warning:
-
In short time rooms...keep an
eye on your wallet to ensure that it stays with you long time.
-
To those with Thai wives, be aware of the motor
cycle taxi network used to keep tabs on errant husbands.
