Listing the bars of Pattaya
The following reviews are those that I come across on
the web, in guide books, from contributors and of course from my own
visits. Reviewers may be unreasonably harsh and bar owners may present a
rosy picture of their bars...so don't take everything at face value...go
and see for yourself.

Abbe's Bar
Beer bar. Be warned that the lady drinks are extortionate at 160 Baht
(Nov 2007)
Review from Pattaya Secrets,
August 2008: Speaking Volumes
Abbe's Bar is great for chilling out and they play some great music
at high volume. Friendly girls apologise for the 160 Baht lady drinks
and you meet loads of people from all over the world. It ends up being
like your local pub back home after a week.
Review 2007: Footy

speakers to actually hear the commentary. The decor is based on
football with pennants, shirts and flags displayed on the walls and
ceilings

Another cold sounding bar in Soho Square. First impressions have
been based on the price of drinks. 160-180 Baht for bottled beer and 240
Baht for spirits with mixer. It didn't last the 2008/9 winter.

Review June 2009: More Tables
The bar has changed format a little by putting tables on the dance
floor. Said to be a cheaper licensing regime for bars without a dance
floor
Review from
pattayasecrets.com
February 2009: Price Hike
It is reported on the forums that the bar has come under Russian
influence perhaps explaining the hike in beer prices to 140 Baht per
bottle.
Still crowded though with crammed in seating and aging free lancers.
Must be doing something right though. Especially if they can get away
with a toilet fee.
Warning Dec 2006: Check you Bin
The place was busy, and bustling and the waitresses were rushed off
their feet, however it appears that almost anyone can order a drink and
have it directed to someone else's tab, and if you don't notice, that
then becomes your tab.
February 2006:
The Thai girls really love this place as the band often plays Issan
love songs which they really get into. It's certainly not an ear
blasting go-go or disco and would probably be best described as a
cabaret venue. I really enjoyed my visits here as I could always have a
conversation with the the lady I was with, but I must admit to cringing
a few times when the resident Thai band attempted a cover version of a
well known western song - Their rendition of the Beatles "Hey Jude" is
just one memory that comes to mind
December 2005:
For the older members or for those who like older mature ladies. The
music not bad but not load like it should be for a disco. The ladies are
performers in the bedroom!!!!

The Best Bar
Walking Street |
The Best Bar
Beer bar opened June 2006, previously Stoney's
Review by Steve, Feb 2007: Latent Heat of Fusion
Formerly known as ‘Stoney’s’, this bar was sold to a Thai lady in May
2006. This is the same lady who own the other two nondescript bar beers
on the corners of the cross formed by the junction of Walking Street
with the alleyway leading to Happy-a-GoGo and Living Dolls.
Unfortunately, she has managed to work some of that ol’ Thai magic and
convert Stoney’s, which was previously a friendly, homely sort of place
into yet another nondescript bar beer, complete with a coat of cheap and
nasty Jack Daniels gloss black paint and a ‘Jack Lives Here’ sign.
The bar used to have a system with two different categories of ladies
working there – the service ladies and the entertainment ladies. The
former brought you drinks, while the latter would chat with you in
exchange for a lady drink. This system worked very well, and made
Stoney’s my favourite watering hole, but it has been abandoned by the
new owner in favour of the more usual service-ladies-only system. As
long as they are not busy, you can still chat with the waitresses, but
you can’t count on their company unless you bar fine them.
Another great feature of Stoney’s was the draft beer served in frozen
double-walled glasses, so that the beer actually got colder as you drank
it. Perfect for a sweaty tropical evening. Of coursem, they still have
draft beer, and they even have a few of the glasses left, but they are
kept with the rest of the beer nowadays and so are no longer frozen and
thus don’t ‘work’. I’ve tried explaining about the latent heat of fusion
to the staff on several occasions, but they just think I’m totally mad
now.
The bar also used to have its own toilet, but the new owner quickly did
away with this nice facility as it costs money to run of course. So now
you have to join the other punters queuing for a pee in the 5 Baht bogs
across the way.
When the bar changed hands, they fired all the staff, so all the ladies
I knew were scattered to the four corners (literally, one lady ended up
in Chiangmai!). I still drop by occasionally for a drink, but it is a
shadow of its former self. If you didn’t know it in its heyday though,
you would probably think that it is a decent spot for a drink.

The
Blues Factory
Music bar. If you have only one night in Pattaya to catch a band,
then this is the bar.
Drinks are 140 Baht for spirits and 95 Baht for soft drinks. Bottled
beer 120-135 Baht
There is
a happy hour until 10pm with draft beer at 50 Baht and other drinks at
100 Baht.
News from Blues Factory, August 2008:
On the Lam
Lam Morrison has returned to The Blues Factory
You can see Lam Morrison from midnight on Wednesdays and Thursdays
and from 1230am Fri, Sat and Sundays nights.
News from Blues Factory, April 2007: Nung
Blues Factory present a new rock band which has a new
guitarist called Nung previously from The Rock Pub in BKK and he is
joined by Lam Morrisons original band.
News from
Stickman,
August 2006: I'm Alright Jack
If you like Jack or Pepe you’ll love the Blues Factory on Mondays and
Wednesdays. The Walking Street bar has two new promotional nights thanks
to a deal Dave made with his liquor suppliers.
Monday will be "Pepe Lopez Ladies Night" night with Pepe Lopez Tequila
at 1,200 baht per bottle or 50 baht a shot. As it's also Ladies Night,
there are lucky number draws with various prizes including Pepe Lopez
stuff and a top prize of Thai Gold. Music by The Blues Machine starts at
9:30 PM.
Wednesdays are "Jack Daniels Rock Night" with Lam Morrison; bottles
of Jack at 1,500 baht (including a JD t-shirt) and Jack Daniels with
mixers at 100 baht all night.
Autumn 2005: Fine Bands
First and foremost this is a music bar hosting two very
fine house bands. First up is Snowman, Mary & The Blues Machine.
They play blues, rock and pop standards from the last few decades.
The
second set is from Lam Morrison and the accent is then on rock. Again
well worth the price of a beer. (The Blues Machine takes Wednesday off
and Lam takes Monday off)
There are hostesses on hand for those
that prefer to enjoy their music in company. But there is no hassle if
you are there purely for the music.
However expect the toilet jockey to hassle you for a tip. Why on
earth do bars employ those who do nothing but put people off the bar?
Happy hour drinks until 10pm. Expensive thereafter, 130 Baht for
bottled Heineken. (Hopefully it is expensive so that the bands can be paid a deservedly
good fee). 135 Baht for brand name mixers. Previously there was a dance floor but this has been
replaced by tables and seating to avoid being classed as a dance club
which then attracts higher drinks taxes.

Review from Pattaya-Addicts,
August 2010:
Hang Out
Candy Shop's place in the nightlife roster is from 1-3am when the
beer bar girls and Soi 6 girls cluster until they move on to Marine
and Insomnia.
The music is R&B and Hip Hop and the drinks are around the 150
Baht mark.
Review from Rick of
pattaya-discover.com, March 2010:
Hang Out
We stopped at Candy Shop for a drink, and to listen to some
live music. Thai girls love to hang out at this venue. I spotted a few
young girls from Soi 6 bars, who had stopped by for an after work drink.
This is the place they come to hook up with their friends and drink the
Thai girls favourite beer, San Miguel Light.
The beers here are Bt 150, and the selection of beers is very
limited. Soft drinks Bt 120

dark as Tony's.

Carousel Beer Bar
Beer bar. Beware of prices such as 145 Baht for vodka-lippo
January 2006:
Many Gogo bars have a nearby similarly named beer bar. I don't if
there is any ownership connection though. Maybe it is just a way to
hijack some of the trade from the more widely publicised GoGos.
This bar in the central isle of Soi Diamond has the unique selling
point of the circular bar being mounted on a slowly rotating carousel.
This surely allows a good view of the comings and goings of many of
Pattaya's busiest GoGos.
Beer is reasonably priced and the girls are happy enough to play
games, both on and off premises.
There is also a stationary drinking area for those that prefer solid
ground.

Casino Club
Coyote Dancing Bar. Seems to do well out of keeping drinks prices low
compared with the late night norm.
News Nov 2008: Builders In
The builders were in for the November royal funeral shutdown
Review by Pattaya Ghost June 2008:
Not a Pickup Joint
Started more than two years ago, Casino was the first of the coyote
bars and still packs in the crowds late every night. Khun Tee, who also
owns Diamond a Go Go just down the soi, designed Casino with two floors,
intending to have coyotes downstairs and a disco upstairs. The second
floor never took off, however, so now everyone crowds into the smallish
ground floor. It has a high square stage in the middle with room for
four dancers, plus the occasional Thai guy on bongo drums. The entire
place is well done out, with a cards and casino theme.
The only gambling you’ll do there, however, is trying to actually get
one of the very tidy coyotes to pay attention to you. Casino is
definitely not a single-man’s pickup joint. Most dancers rush off stage
to towel off after their set and tend to gaggle together in the corners
rather than mix with customers.
The first year, in fact, Tee didn’t allow the coyotes to be barfined.
If you wanted to see if the object of your desire could perform the same
moves in your hotel room you needed to wait until 4 a.m. or so when the
bar closed for her to go with you.
By popular demand, however, barfines were instituted at 1,000 baht, the
first Pattaya bar to go that high (and, sadly, not the last). But
considering these woman are all under 30 and dance (aerobics style) 30
minutes an hour for about 8 hours a day, they are definitely fit. You’d
be hard pressed to find any who rated under an 8 on most people’s
scales.
The music in Casino is classic coyote: techno, house and a smattering of
remixed hip-hop, all played at levels that make conversation difficult.
Drinks are reasonably priced at around 110 baht for mixed drinks and 95
baht for bottled beer. Casino is also a late-night bar and doesn’t
really get started until after midnight.
News March 2007: Bar Fine
The bar fine in Casino was reported to be 1250 Baht
Review Dec 2006: Popular
I was dragged in by a party of girls and it really is not my scene,
but I have to say that the bar is very popular.
There's plenty of dancing going on onstage and off, plenty of
customers and plenty of coyote girls eager to play hostess whilst
waiting for their dancing stint.
The music was loud, but people seemed happy enough and could just
about converse enough to get by.
Maybe the key to its success is that it is one of the few bars that
cater for groups of friends rather that the gogo majority which cater
more for singletons. Also the drinks prices are standard Walking Street
prices as opposed to the exorbitant prices charged by some of the other
late night dancing venues. Drinks around 95 Baht
Review from
Pattaya Secrets,
May 2006: Bloody expensive
We decided to check out Casino Club for one, famous last words as we
stumbled out of there at 3am. Did have great fun in there, and some sexy
girls. Bloody expensive though as I discovered when I paid my 1000 baht Barfine...
Great night, really enjoyed the atmosphere in Casino.
Review from Kevin, February 2006: Cool!
The Club has been done out very well indeed!, the decor is very, very
tidy!, there is a square raised podium in the middle of the floor where
the dancers perform, normally 4 of them, one facing each corner of the
club!, one I recognized from Superbaby, another from Paris A-gogo .
Sometimes one of the guys gets up and plays a small set of drums to
the music , the girls love it!, and it gets the crowd going .
It is not the biggest place , but god I was surprised how nice it
was!, the main hostess is a darling, always comes and says hello!, will
always buy a round for those that stay and drink a bit! and really makes
you feel welcome!. The girls cannot be barfined, but I was seeing one of
them!, only problem I had to wait until 4am until she finished!
All in all I found the place a breath of fresh air!, great look,
great sound, and a really nice bunch! I normally live in Heaven above,
Living Doll 1 & 2 , Happy or Peppermint, I am a A-gogo lover!, but this
was cool!

An American tourist was badly beaten in Pattaya late Thursday night

The victim suffered swollen face and a serious wound on his head.
Several of his teeth were also knocked off. His girlfriend, told police

News from Pattaya Talk,
Feb 2009: Ibiza
The vast majority of the crowd who go there now just seem to go there
to dance ‘ibiza style’ to monotonous music and drink expensive drinks
rather than for P4P.
Most of the guys are not interested in the girls – I went there a few
nights and I saw many guys come there just to jump up and down by
themselves or with their mates and then go home.
This situation has not been lost on the girls who now tend to hang
back from approaching guys and don’t hang around long in there.
News from Pattaya-Live,
Nov 2008: The New Place
The new place is large bar down stairs, very chic, DJ's & open from
8pm every night, they have a couple of pool tables & loads of space.
Upstairs is the club, open from 11 until 8am, it looks like it could
hold around 700 people, is huge, high ceiling, loads of air con, sounds
system & lighting system are top notch, has a raised VIP area with own
bar, they clearly spent a few bucks building & decorating the place.
My first impressions of the place: I think they have done an excellent
job of creating a proper super club in Pattaya, they have really raised
the bar & I reckon it will be a free lancers's heaven within a very
short period of time.

Opened 2nd July 2009, previously Wildcats
From Fantasy Sports Grill, August 2009:
There is a nice new sports orientated bar in Soho Square. It opened
on 2 July 09 and is not 100% complete with all the concepts to be
featured.
It is a nice place to play pool, meet with friends to talk, take a
girl or just have a drink. it is decorated with vintage sports equipment
and cool old photographs. It is not really a girl pick up spot but if
you get tired of the same old loud and crazy Walking St. atmospheres and
need a break try out Fantasy Sports Grill.
They offer a beer by the case card, pay upfront for 18 beers and get
24 (6 free) it is the same concept as bars selling alcohol by the
bottle.
The owner's wife (June) manages the place and is super sexy and very
nice. The bar features 3 pool tables, 1 foozball, 2 dart boards, golf
and video game machines and an also outdoor sitting area.
The grill portion is still in the process of being set up but burgers
and hotdogs can be ordered.

FLB Bar
Aircon hostess bar with a live band. A meeting point for members of
its forum
Review August 2010: More Welcome
FLB seem to have invested in some slightly more pro-active welcome
staff. A couple of attractive girls seem to be more likely to pull
people in than has been the case for a while.
The welcome girls are, by default at least, pinned to the door. At an
earlyish time there were about 6 hostesses available inside. There were
a couple that were attractive.
I chatted to one for a while. She made for good company and the
drinks were reasonably priced so it made for a nice stay.
Eventually the band came on. They were very competent but ultimately
didn't grab my attention due to the usual over familiar tunes.
The bar seemed to fill up a bit though with what I guessed were
regular customers. Not sure if there were enough girls to go around at
this point. So perhaps better later for people with their own company.
Review from
Thai Visa,
Feb 2009: New band
I like this place. They have a new band and some of the ladies are
nice to chat with. Never had a problem there as all drink parasites are
told to move along.
If you ring the bell they toss you a shirt and put up your moniker
along with your quote on one of the mirrors.
Review March 2009: Lonely
I stopped by early and sat down and had a draft beer for 70 Baht.
There were only 4 or 5 girls in the bar and they made no effort
whatsoever to even look round to see if I wanted company. But the bar
does say 'no hassle' on a sign as you go in so perhaps the hostess
concept has been dropped.

Sports bar previously 19th Hole. Opened December 2008. Now with
coyote dancers.
Note from Pattaya Secrets,
July 2010: Bangkok Supermodels
The coyote dancing seems to be very expensive as they use Bangkok
supermodels with bar fines reported to be around the 3000 Baht mark or
else simply not available. Standard barfines are 1000 Baht for dancers
and 1500 Baht for hostesses
Review from Pattaya Secrets,
July 2009: 240 Baht Lady Drinks
It’s a really nice ‘up market’ place. They have spared no
expense on the déco. It has a well stocked bar with very helpful
servers.
They have a 6 piece band thumping out old run of the mill Blues, they
are good, if not a bit loud, the jewel in the crown is a lovely looking
lady lead singer that consistently hits the right notes too (Ex FLB
snger)
They have a couple of pool tables and a nice balcony where you can
take a look at the action on Walking Street.
At around 01.30am there was me and about half a dozen other punters.
The mamasang told me it gets busy around 04.00am
There were a couple (literally) of hostesses walking around, I bought
one 3 drinks and then realized why they have a bank incorporated within
the bar, 720 Baht for 3 lady drinks! To add salt to the womb this
hostess didn’t go with customers. 240 Baht for a lady drink is just too
much in my opinion. Bar fines are 2500 Baht!
Review from Pattaya Today: Night March,
June 2009: Jazz
It looks as though the Goodfellas late night lounge has finally
worked out what it wants to be. After flirting with the idea of trying
to compete with the likes of Lucifers and Club Insomnia in the
head-banging stakes, Goodfellas has now settled into a more laid-back
operation with a highly competent jazz band as the centrepiece of their
entertainment.
Review from
Pattaya-Addicts,
January 2009: Not So Good Fellas
Goodfellas bar have put a up a TV screen speaker above Walking
Street. The music coming out of that speaker must be at about 120
Decibels as it is fucking loud. Of course all the bars in the area have
turned up their music to compensate.
Big place. It is almost like the Gulliver's on Beach Road in that it
has 4 pool tables, TV screens showing sports and have a restaurant and
bar. But they have a DJ who, at times, plays really loud music. Who
wants to have blasting music with their dinner?
But the place is well laid out and the bathrooms are clean.
Review December 2008: Who's First
I waltzed up the swanky new curved stairs to Goodfellow's bar on
Walking Street above Soi Lucky Star.
I had a look around, spotted a very good looking well decorated bar,
and promptly waltzed back down the stairs.
There was simply no one there, apart from the service staff, no
girls, no entertainment, nothing.
News May 2008: Freelance Sports
Bought by a Swiss and a French guy. They are calling it Goodfellows
and it will be a sports bar with freelancers encouraged to visit (no bar
fines). The Planned opening is sometime next month.

Great Girls
Don't like the location since it
right front of the boxing ring in Siren Complex. Beers are somewhat on
the warm side and the bathroom are in the dingy corner of the complex.
But girls are great and very energetic. Mamasan is very friendly and

It's also own by Sunny so if you don't see him at Lennie's, you will
sure to see him there drinking beer.

In my opinion this is the place for late night stalking where an
absolute cracker can be picked up. Just sit on a perch and wait for the
eyes of a numerous amount of ladies and then just take your pick. Good
atmosphere apart from the toilets which are terrible. Great friendly bar
staff and open late.

One of the major attractions is the front terrace where customers can

I can see this place becoming a popular spot with those who want

Review from Pattaya Secrets,
Sept 2008: Fabulous Band
If you are into hip hop and gangsta rap I don’t think there is a
better place in Pattaya to listen to it. The DJ’s pump out a 30 minute
set and then flawlessly, the absolutely fabulous band takes over, all
vocalists take turns, one better than the other, the line up includes a
gorgeous girl who is not on the stage just for her beauty, she gives as
good as the guys with perfect attitude.
Lucifer’s have spared no expense on the sound system, the light show
is appropriate for what the place is, just to remind you, a sort of
underground music focused venue with a customer base of hard core hip
hop music lovers.
There were plenty of freelances on the prowl so you could go on your own
and still get laid, but its not like your shooting fish in a barrel, you
may have to work a bit, I saw a couple of guys get knock backs. My
advice would to bring a girl with you’re your probably safer that way
also.
Review from Pattaya Addicts,
Oct 2007: Pretty Expensive
Lucifer is the place to go around 2 am. It is a great place, many
girls, great DJ but pretty expensive drinks (shots can be around 220
baht... There is no real dance floor but still everybody is dancing.
Review from Pattaya Secrets,
Dec 2006: Young Crowd
I liked the place. It's music policy seems to be
almost entirely hiphop which is ok by me. DJ Domination was playing, but
I wasn't that impressed.
What did impress me was the standard of the
freelancers, a fairly young crowd but mainly good looking with nice
attitudes.
December 2005: Heaven
I think the best place for music and ladies. the quality always seems to
be there. Anyway when in Pattaya I always seem to go there nearly every
night.
The music is the same every night as well. So you can go to the loo
outside for a break and come back into the disco and know which song is
next!!
There also seems a mad rush of women between 12 and 1. Mostly
freelancers but heaven!!

Oct 2007: Real Dance Floor
Marine 1 is the place to go around 3am.
Most of the girls from the bars try to pull in that place. The only
thing about Marine 1 is: It is ALWAYS the same music.
The drinks are also not the cheapest.
The good thing here is that you got a real dance floor.
Review from Pattaya Secrets,
Dec 2006: The Daddy
The Daddy of them all and still the best IMHO. It's
bigger than the rest, a fairly simple design and lighting setup but used
very effectively with an almost warehouse type feeling.
It was packed with a whole variety of farangs and
thais of all ages who all mostly seemed to be having a good time.
The music is excellent too, fairly hiphop free, a bit
cheesy but just the thing to get a crowd dancing. Loads of cute, and
some not so cute, Thai girls looking for a farang for the night.

Otto's New Calypso Bar
Walking Street (near Soi Happy) |
Otto's New Calypso Bar
Shophouse bar
Review by Steve, February 2006: Swiss Calypso
Otto’s is a small Swiss-German bar set right in the middle of Walking
Street, next door to ‘The Best Bar’ (formerly Stoney’s), right by the
junction with Happy-a-GoGo and Living Dolls. Its chief asset is probably
the owner, Otto, who is a really pleasant guy. Unfortunately, about 9
months ago he suffered spinal injuries while driving his motorbike home,
and he is still convalescing.
Being small, the bar has only a few comfy, cushioned seats in its
entrance, and most people end up sitting on the bar stools inside. The
bar has the beer set-up right so that it is always cold, unlike some
newer places where later on a busy night the bottles can become
decidedly tepid. It also has perhaps the nicest toilet of any Walking
Street bar beer.
There is the usual gaggle of ladies who double as serving ladies and
entertainment girls if you care to offer them. The usual bar beer prices
prevail. But mostly the ladies just sit around all night, they do not
get a great deal of custom. None of them is terribly young (the last
time I asked the youngest two ladies were both 29), which is probably a
good thing given the lack of custom.
In the high season the place can become a bit overpoweringly Teutonic in
its clientele, which is fine if you’re Swiss-German or even German. In
the low season it is more laid-back, though the single drinker may still
be asked to vacate the comfy chairs for a bar stool if more customers
appear.

Pattaya Beer Garden
Freelancer pick up bar, opened on 25th April 2008
News from
pattayabeergarden June 2008: Progress
into June
From day one we have had consistently good business. The bar itself
can be a little deceptive because of the size and the four different
areas. Fifty people can virtually disappear and it takes over 100
people to make the place look slightly busy. For me this is a great
advantage as the relaxing, chill out atmosphere is not spoilt even
when we are busy.
The freelancer situation is evolving and getting better all the
time. We are always promoting the beer garden to the girls and
building up a nice set of regulars. New girls stumble in every day and
overall I am satisfied we are on the right track. It is still a bit
hit and miss and will probably remain so for a few more months. You
just have to try your luck and maybe wait for a while for new girls to
wander in.
I have mentioned busy times before but I think it is a bit self
defeating to do so. Last week I write that I was surprised by the
number of girls arriving after 10pm. On Friday night we had about 25
girls sitting at the bar at 7 pm and 5 guys. By 9 pm that had changed
to 25 guys and 5 girls. Sometimes the balance is right and sometimes
it is not. I am sure this will continue until we are better known.
I saw a comment on a board last week about the rules of engagement.
Basically the poster was saying he was not going to approach the girls
and if they did not approach him nothing was going to happen. That
approach will work in just about every bar in Pattaya but it will not
work at the Pattaya Beer Garden. You must make first contact. If you
can’t or won’t do that then the PBG is probably not for you. If you
approach a girl at the bar I can almost guarantee that you will not be
rebuffed. The girls are there to find a man after all. Even fat old
balding people like me are seen as desirable meat mates. So don’t be
shy just say Hi. The rest will follow naturally and without pressure.
We are in to out June promotions now. The freelancer discount
continues. Bring your own freelancer and receive a 100 baht discount
off your order. Please ask clearly for "The Freelancer Discount" when
ordering.
Happy hours are 3 pm to 5 pm and then again 9 pm to 11 pm every day.
All bottled beers are 50 baht (except Corona). This week we have
permanently lowered the price of Corona and Strongbow.
A new thing we are trying in June is the "Sunset Promotion". The PBG
is a great place to watch the sunset each evening around 6:30 pm. It
can be quite spectacular. From 5:30 pm to 7 pm each night we are
offering the "Sunset Special". A plate of Thai h'orderves and a
Sundowner cocktail for two hundred baht. The Thai snacks are very
tasty and farang friendly (will not blow your head off) and the
Sundowner cocktail packs a bit of a wallop with three shots of the
hard stuff.
News April 2008: Open
The bar is now open for business and the Pattaya regulars have been
giving a good reception. There are plenty of promotions during May to
give it a good kick start.
News March 2008: Freelancers
People
have always wondered why Pattaya doesn't have a venue for freelancers
along the lines of Bangkok's Beer Garden on Soi 7.
Well bar owner Pattaya Pete (previously of FLB) has bought a venue that
he hopes will emulate the success of the Beer Garden. The venue is
hardly a garden though, as it is at the back of the Pier Complex
overlooking the sea.
It is a large venue and will feature reasonable prices so as to
encourage customers and girls to hang around and buy a few drinks. There
will be no bar fines.

Review from Pattaya Addicts,
June 2007: Favourite
I enthusiastically second the Rolling Stone 2 bar where Soi 16 meets
Walking Street. They have a terrific band that plays all the classic
rock standards. It's a big bar overlooking Walking Street so it's
perfect for people-watching. You can play pool, flirt with the girls,
watch sports on the TVs or just chill. By far my favorite beer bar.
Pattaya brochure review February 2006: Rolling Welcome
The bar has a pleasant outside seating environment for watching
passers by on Walking Street. The bar has over 30 beautiful women as
well as excellent live music.
Both Gary and Noi, his friendly wife are always great ones to talk to
and they definitely made us feel welcome.
Review Autumn 2005: Doubtless a Good Business
A note for all the doubters of the Covent
Garden Complex the Rolling Stone 2 Bar is exceeding all business
expectations! Have to agree with you that the Rolling Stone 2 bar is
rather nice, I spent a night drinking there until the sun came up.

The bar TV hosts all of Australia's sporting and cultural events such
as ANZAC Day, Melbourne Cup Day and Australia Day etc. Football games
and finals series (AFL & NRL) are recieved from Australia live via
satellite, along with other major Australian sporting events.
January 2006:
The Roo Bar has Aussie owners, Bob & Roundy, at least one of them always present.
Icy cold beer, good conversation with owners and other customers, no
loud music. Quick service. The bar is full most nights, high and low
season despite having to sit on backless stools. Serious beer drinkers
stay all night, and spend spend spend.
Summer 2005:
Open front bar popular with the Australians. Great hosts,
nice girls, cold beer and lotsa, lotsa bullshit!!
On the other hand:
It is a depressingly grubby bar and always seems to be inhabited by
Australians who come all the way to LOS to sit in a bar talking to other
Australians about Australia! The only women I have seen in there were
ones I had wished I hadn't

Secrets
Hostess bar & hotel opened 1st September 2006.
Review by Materialsman, October 2009:
Cheers Style Bar
I quite like Secrets as a concept, and I am
a regular contributor to their website Forum, though I do consider they
charge like a wounded rhinoceros for my favoured bottled Heineken, thus
forcing me to drink the draft beer Tiger on my visits here, I don't have
a problem paying outrageous prices for a bottled beer in a Go-Go, where
there is acres of naked flesh on display, but I feel that in a Coyote
style Bar, the pricing in Club Blu or the Honeypot is more to my liking.
Secrets is what it is, a sort of Cheers style Bar where
everyone knows your name and was busy as always, a very successful
business concept, perhaps partly, but not singularly due to the
ubiquitous and gregarious Manager Larry, though last night I felt
the Mamasan was a bit hasty in trying to thrust a girl at me for
company, actually before I had even got my first beer, that may be
fine for a shy newbie, but I like to take my time and actually
select a cutie to sit with me, it's a minor irritation, but I guess it
worked, as I felt obliged to buy a lady drink and swap idle
where you come from,' 'what's your name' style crap until I
could beat a retreat.

Review from Pattaya-Live,
March 2008: Spanking
Service was good, there were a shit load of girlies and a good load
of them hot, the pizza we ordered was spanking, and the ale was cold.
Review April 2007: Lonely (but Good Food)
The general Pattaya rule is that bars employ hostesses
but restaurants generally avoid them.
I thought it would be nice to have meal with company
rather than the usual eating alone so I stopped by Secrets as one of the
few bars that combine girls with food (and aircon)
Unfortunately the way that Secrets hook up the girls
with customers is pretty naff and it wasn't to be. The girls were lined
up just inside the door and they were a pretty mixed bunch. A couple of
oldies were the first to catch my eye in the short time that you to make
a choice. My body language sent out distress signals to alert the two
oldies that they shouldn't bother trying their luck. Unfortunately the
whole pack of girls caught the same distress signals and the whole lot
ignored me for the entire visit.
Once inside and having time to survey the scene it
seems that many customers were sitting there lonely and that the girls
would either ignore them all or else flock around a few big spending,
big character types that were probably regulars. They clearly were
enjoying the attention so there are surely a few good reviews deserved
by the bar.
Still I pressed on with the food order and the service
was prompt and efficient.
The meal was very good and the chef had made a fine
effort to put a little style and originality into basic pub food.
Just a shame that no hostesses so much as glanced in
my direction.

Review by jj, Dec 2006: Keep it a SECRET
The only ones likely to be spread a word of mouth ad for Secrets are the
investors. This place is best kept a secret from seasoned punters.
We found ourselves on Walking Street a bit before the angel-hour of 8PM.
The first group of hello-girls we encountered south of Pattaya Tai were
touting Secrets . They promised "sexy girls". Being easily swayed, we
fell for the ploy.
Secrets is one of those beautifully appointed bars that cost the
investors a large fortune to outfit. It's attraction stops there. At
that early hour, there were perhaps 20-25 ladies in residence. For the
most part they were completely ignoring the 3-5 punters present. They
were arranged in gaggles of 4-6, deeply engaged in conversation among
themselves; one group surrounding a video game machine near the side
door. Everything the previous reviewers said about this place: seating,
music, oldies and fatties is completely true. Three large flat-screen
TVs were showing a concert video -- with the sound off. The DJ was
playing the standard CD that the Thai government seemingly issues with
every liquor license. Drink prices were going rate except for something
called "Secrets Cocktails" of unspecified ingredients for 280 baht!
Likely the investors will pepper sites like this with rave reviews in
hopes of recouping their funds. With the competition on Walking Street
alone, I give this place a year at most before they pull the plug.
Review Sept 2006: Suay
The bar is immediately attractive. It features a central bar with
comfortable chairs at the bar. There are bays of couch seating around
the back. Lighting and decoration is spot on.
There are dancing poles with girls in disco wear.
Bottled Tiger Beer was very reasonable at 50 Baht. San Miguel,
spirits and lady drinks are 95 Baht
I didn't stay long though as the hostess who attached herself to me
was an oldie. In fact the girls on the prowl in my vicinity weren't a
very attractive bunch but I did spot a couple of pretty girls around the
other side of the bar.

Stands out from the crown in that it features

It is a bar where I will surely pop in one day. But the nearby rather
basic, loud, garish & tasteless bars have one slight advantage over
Shangri La, they are stocked with attractive short time girlfriends.

Opened as a coyote bar in 2009 then had less clothed ladies so qualified

News September 2009: Cold Beer
A new coyote dancing bar has opened up at the back of the old Nok
Beer Bar Complex towards the Beach Road end of Walking Street. It is the
location last making an appearance as VooDoo A-GoGo.
There were a couple of smallish dancing stages with bench seating
down each side of the narrow bar. There is an unused Jacuzzi so
perhaps the bar has plans for something more interesting than coyote
dancing.
It is early days and there were just 6 dancers of which 3 were
dancing overdressed in typical coyote gear.
Untypically for a coyote bar, the girls not dancing were being pretty
friendly and active in seeking a lady drink. Not really top notch girls
at the moment, but if the bar is a success then the bar will surely get
their share of cuties. I gave the girls a miss though as the music was
too loud for a chat.
But really when there are 50 bars in the neighbourhood with naked
girls I don't really see the appeal in coyote dancing. The only way
coyote bars seem to find a niche is as pleasant decoration for a bar
where customers primarily go to chat with their mates. And the loud
music rather puts paid to that role.
One current attraction though, is that bottled beer is just 75 Baht
at the moment. Actually I didn't particularly notice the beer
temperature, so presumably it was cold enough.

Thanks to Ryan, Dec 2007: 180
Baht Water
I bought one bottle of water I never paid for it I just walked
straight out when my bin came. 180 Baht (£2.60) they are charging for
a bottle of water in Tony's the exact same I bought one hour before
from a 7/11 shop at 15 Baht. i
I am not greedy but you would not even pay that for water in the
centre of Edinburgh. so I would say it is a rip off and more expensive
than European discotheques.
From
Pattaya Bargirls,
August 2006: Pattaya Economics
If you're rich, dumb and horny, be sure to visit Tony's. There, you
will find hundreds of freelance Thai hookers who want to meet you before
you wise-up.
Tony's is probably the most expensive bar in Thailand. It's definitely
the most infuriating. Hundreds of annoying waiters bother you every 60
seconds (no exaggeration) offering drinks, cigarettes, flowers, photos,
cigars and tequila slammers.
At 310 baht a pitcher, Tony's home brew is the cheapest drink available.
If you want to make one beer last all night then order this. It's the
worst pint I've ever tasted in my entire life.
Each time you order, the change contains at least 40 baht in coins. If
you pocket them, the waiters don't hide their anger.
In fairness, the stage show was quite entertaining. A fat Thai rapper,
who thought he was black, belted out some reasonable cover-versions. He
was joined by a blonde Thai woman who could also sing but was a little
too chubby for her revealing outfit.
Tony's is always packed. The key to its success is a strange quirk in
the laws of economics. Normally, you can't sell grossly overpriced goods
because rich, dumb customers don't exist in the real world. Freelancer
still dream about meeting one, though. That's why they all go to Tony's.
The guys just go where the girls are. It's a vicious circle that
spoils Pattaya's nightlife.
From
Jil in Pattaya,
June 2006: Dual Pricing
Just one more reason not to go into Tony's on walking street:
Heinekens are 60 baht for Thai people and 150 baht for Farang.
Well, that, and the annoying pushy staff.
Well, that, and the crappy music they play.
January 2006:
On this trip I didn't meet or bar fine a girl who didn't know about
this place. It appears to be the IN disco in town and I have to say it's
an experience newbie's should try at least once, even if you are 53 years
old. As a disco this place really pumps, it's always packed, the music is
LOUD and the girls really love it. If your girl suggests the place, go
with the flow and take her, it may not be you cup of tea but she will
certainly appreciate your generosity of spirit in allowing her to enjoy
the atmosphere.
However a word of warning for newbie's - If you order drinks, you pay
for them when you receive them (no check bin) and if you don't have the
correct money (150bt per Heineken) take a note of the number pinned on the
jacket of the waiter, as they are not particularly forthcoming when it
comes to returning your change!

It is an exceptionally neat design and layout, up on

length of the left side of the alley, with an open-air seating
arrangement and plush booths to relax in, in a complete open-air

The exceptionally fancy style of the bar is
unfortunately offset by the poorest view of any bar in the city: That

Flat screens every where even in the LUXURY loo's SHOWING sports events.

Notes |
|
Pattaya bars most likely to be listed are those that
occupy a permanent looking standalone building. Beer bars in
complexes will not be listed
unless mentioned in dispatches. Gay/Thai/Karaoke bars are not listed due
to a lack of expertise in those areas. Gogo bars are listed on a
separate page. I have added food reviews but
this is not a comprehensive service. I will only list eateries where
people have submitted comments
The following reviews are those that I come across on
the web, in guide books, from contributors and of course from my own
visits. Reviewers may be unreasonably harsh and bar owners
may present a rosy picture of their bars...so don't take everything at
face value...go and see for yourself. Click on the street name to obtain
a map of the bar area.
And a couple of words of warning:
-
In short time rooms...keep an
eye on your wallet to ensure that it stays with you long time.
-
To those with Thai wives, be aware of the motor
cycle taxi network used to keep tabs on errant husbands.
